Figuring a Name

Untitled is not a word to use on finished pieces of artwork but here it was vital. My process for the ‘Horizon’ series is to start with a rough idea and a working name. Then follows a short working out in a sketchbook, looking at the name and general piece working around the idea, sometimes the idea survives but mostly things change round a bit which is the point a study is needed.

Then with a study comes a re-think or working out in depth i.e. what dimensions of paper and boarder etc… then the task of producing the work. While doing this more ideas form for other works or the one that is being produced with the name often changing as the piece develops.

This piece the name just did not click, it was a portrait hence its format but in the end it is untitled with an identity tag.
